RESIDENTIAL TYPE: Business
LOCATION: Leavenworth, WA

WALK-IN IMPRESSION: Certain team members reported feeling that they were being watched by someone they couldn't see while investigating the basement. The gift shop was nice and welcoming while the basement was reported to feel cold and lonely.

ROOM: Basement
Witness: MERLYN - "I immediately sensed a male presence. I could see him with light blue overalls and scraggy mousey blond hair. I feel he is a worker of some sort between the ages of 40-55. He is not stationary. I feel this man follows people around in the basement. Marshall, Mike's father, states that he has been followed and does indeed feel it is a male. This spirit is interacting with people to get their attention. When people come into this area, they feel as if they were being watched and they get a bit "creeped out". I don't feel this is a malicious spirit, but likes having people around."

ROOM: Rack Room
Witness: Several members of the team witnessed the fluorescent light turn on and off. There seemed to be no explainable cause.

ROOM: Wine cellar corner of basement
Witness: MERLYN - "I physically felt a tingling on my back at the same time I felt something touch my head. At a later point in the investigation I again took off alone and went to the corner of the basement near a sinkhole under the staircase. I felt drawn to this area. I walked in and felt his presence very strong. As I was walking out of this area under the fluorescent light, it suddenly turned off. This phenomenon happened throughout the night in different parts of the basement. According to one of the owners this happens to people who go into the basement frequently. Another note about this area, when I stepped into the sinkhole, I heard the song "Werewolves of London" in my head. I don't know the significance of this or if there even is significance to this."
STEFANIE - "I witnessed the fluorescent light click on and then off and then back on again. What was unusual about this was the clicking sound that occurred each time the light would change. It sounded like a light switch, but there were none to be found. The client said that this does happen often and that she does not know of any plausible explanation. Darren and I tested the light and tried to duplicate what we had just seen or heard. We could not do so."

ROOM: Dirt section of basement
Witness: MERLYN - "I was alone in this area when I heard a voice clairaudiently say "over here". I followed to where I felt the voice came from and I found a small shack-like room that had been built. This room gave off a 'creep-out' factor. There are also numerous cold spots. However, this can be explained by drafts from outside." Guy reported feeling a constant cold spot on his left elbow. Marshall reported feeling his hair stand on end. When Kathy took a picture an orb was present in the photo right where he felt the phenomenon. Mostly, the photos shot in this area will contain dust particles. Mark A. reported feeling his heart stop every time he entered this area.

ROOM: Staircase
Witness: MERLYN - "I feel someone standing at the top of the staircase looking down into the basement. I see this twice. I feel that people have seen this at this location. I later found out that one of the clients has seen someone at the top of the stairs before. I also get the feeling there is a missing set of stairs. I feel that were taken out at some point. As I was talking to Kay and Larry near the staircase facing the oil tank, I thought I saw a shadow move near the tank."

ROOM: Main Floor
MERLYN - "As I stand in the basement area, I keep getting the impression of a female worker from upstairs, (main floor). I feel she was wearing one of those Bavarian costumes that flair out, (see Figure B). I feel that the area was larger and 'different' than it is now."

Interesting Note: MERLYN - "When we were at the cemetery the next day, I laid down to get whatever impression I could. At this point I started to focus back on this area and NOT the cemetery. I clearly heard a 'BANG'. Then I got the impression of a male and a female with a gun. It wasn't clear to me who shot who, but I clearly felt that one shot the other. I was later informed that the woman that I was sensing in the basement with the Bavarian dress was a waitress when the main floor was a restaurant. She had been sitting at one of the tables and her boyfriend or husband shot her from the street."

ROOM: Goldsmith Store
Witness: MERLYN - "I feel this room was much larger at one time. I can see the woman walking through the wall. I was informed that the wall was built later, after it was a restaurant."

ROOM: Upstairs office of Goldsmith Store
Witness: MERLYN - "I walk into the back office and I get an overwhelming feeling of sadness. I start to feel myself get very emotional and cry. At this point I leave because I do not wish to be seen crying. Mike witnesses this event. I feel something tragic happened here. The next morning the shop owner informs me that the previous owner had had a fatal heart attack in that very spot."

UPSTAIRS/HOTEL

ROOM: Room 207
Witness: MERLYN - "When I'm in my bed at night, I can sense a woman in a long 19th century dress walking down the hallway. I feel this was a 'not-so-nice" part of town in the 19th century. I get the feeling of bordello or 'housing'. The current owner informed me that this was indeed a bordello at one time. At the time, they would call it 'housing' because it was not proper to have a bordello. At about 3:00 am I wake up to the sensation that a female is standing right next to my bed watching me sleep. Then I feel that she kneels down beside me. At this point I clearly hear a woman speaking in my ear."

MERLYN - "Another strong impression I kept getting was the fact that there was a large fire in the town in the 1910's. I felt that it did significant damage to the town. However, no one I talked to was able to validate that. They were able to confirm that there once was a fire in the hotel, but nothing too disastrous. I still didn't feel that this was the fire I was sensing. Then before I left town to go home. I went to the public bathroom in the middle of town. I discovered a large board that showed the history of Leavenworth. It was there that I found my validation. Written was the following, "Wooden buildings gave way to brick after fire nearly devastated Leavenworth in the early 1910's."

STRUCTURAL NOTES: The Edelweiss was built about a hundred years ago. It has been remodeled several times. The electrical wires running through the building are 6 years old. The plumbing is approx. the same age. Several doors have been boarded up. Stairways that used to lead down into the basement along the outside have been taken out. There is said to be a tunnel that was sealed up but was once used to travel between the buildings. The floors and walls in the basement are unfinished.

CLOSING FEELINGS: Despite the fact there were no unusual technical readings, almost everyone on the team agreed that there was paranormal activity happening in the basement due to individual personal encounters that occurred. The psychic impressions received by Merlyn were all confirmed by the clients.
