GHOST TRACKERS CONFERENCE 2004 - San Francisco, CA

Judging by our great experience last year, the group was anxious to get to this year's Ghost Tracker's Conference, hosted by Gloria and Joe of Ghost Trackers in Sacramento. With eight of us crammed into a small minivan, we began our journey down through Oregon and into California. We made some good time with Kendra behind the wheel. We got into San Francisco in under 14 hours. We stopped at Golden Gates Park to do the scenic thing.

Upon arrival at the USS Hornet, we met up with the other ghost hunting groups. We were all given numbered bracelets and let onto the ship for orientation. There were about 30 participants total. Joe, one of the ship's caretakers, led us to our bunks. Once our stuff was unloaded, we were taken to the cafeteria for dinner. The dinner felt really good on our empty, tired stomachs.

After dinner we were given a ghost tour by Winter, another caretaker of the ship. She and her husband Keith shared their experiences and others' encounters with the ghosts. They told of the gentleman ghost who would tip his hat to women as they left the bathroom, the decapitated soldier who is seen on the hanger deck, and the blue amoeba-like entity that roams the ship. It was amazing to find that on average someone would experience something paranormal daily on this ship. All of our nerves raced with excitement for we had never been in a place as active as this.

That night, as everyone was getting settled into bed. Several members of AGHOST sat up in the chapel area. We ran surveillance equipment and conducted what is called a 'spirit circle' by the psychics. A spirit circle is a way to meditate and attempt to contact the entities in the area. During the spirit circle, several of us witnessed the sound of an aircraft landing on the flight deck. This ship is decommissioned and so it is impossible for an aircraft to have landed on the flight deck. The sound is unexplainable.

The rest of the next day was spend wandering the ship. We said good bye to the USS Hornet at around 5:00 PM and went into the city to check into our hotel rooms.

Saturday morning we all conjoured down in a meeting room of the hotel to listen to the phenominal speakers such as Troy Taylor, Loyd Auerbach, and Laurie Jacobson. On Sunday, we escaped to Alcatraz once again and got access into the chapel, which is another section that is usually off limits to the public.

The Ghost Trackers Conference was one of the most memorable events of the year for all of us. Thank you to Joe & Gloria for putting together a fantastic event!
